Open Door Policy
This cartoon is about the open door policy. The cartoonist's message is that America blocked the door even though they opened it, and they put the open door policy in place. I can imagine people having negative opinions to this because they say America shouldn’t have even though they said they wouldn’t or say that a lot to make sure this wouldn’t happen they didn’t anyways they shouldn’t have a monopoly over China. Make used in this cartoon is exaggeration and symbolism. Exaggeration because they’re showing Uncle Sam as larger than the other ones and they’re exaggerating his size to show his power. Symbolism because the key symbolizes the open door policy because it’s the key to open the door. This cartoon supports my position on American imperialism because it shows once again how much power are we had over other countries.
