Roosevelt Corollary

This cartoon is on the Roosevelt Corollary situation. The cartoonist message is that the US used force and to get what they wanted or to protect the northern hemisphere. I can see people having a negative and positive sentences because either they believe America too much power or they should not of use force, or that the Americans did the right thing on protecting their hemisphere. The cartoonist used an exaggeration and symbolism to make this cartoon persuasive. It uses exaggeration because it exaggerated the size of the gun that Roosevelt is using to protect the hammock or in the picture the Republic of Santo Domingo. It uses symbolism because it’s showing America or yet Roosevelt symbolizing America and the King representing Europe. This cartoon support my opinion once again because it shows America having a lot of power over Europe
