This political cartoon is about the
purchase of Alaska. I believe the cartoonist message on this issue is that it
is not a good plan. I can imagine people taking this as a good thing because
it’s expanding our country and I can also see people think taking this neutrally.
The cartoonist used symbolism and labeling in this cartoon. Symbolism is in
this cartoon because Uncle Sam is larger than the other people and Uncle Sam is
a symbol for the United States, so they’re saying that the United States is
large in power. Labeling is used because in the fabric there is different words
with different problems on them and then all his stripes are different States.
This cartoon supports my position on American, because I do not think it was a
good idea to buy Alaska.
